Living the Romans 12 Kind of Love: Faith in Action from the Heart

I’m an old girl, and I must admit that I had to look up what a blog actually is!

A blog, as I’ve learned, is a space where people share their thoughts, experiences, and reflections; and where readers can respond, connect, and share their hearts in return.

So here we are, beginning this journey together. As you read I pray that you will have a sense that all I write comes straight from my heart that God has filled with love for you!

This website, along with the associated podcast and any services offered here, all built on an unshakable foundation: the Word of God and the power of Godly LOVE … the Romans 12 kind of love.

WHAT IS THE ROMANS 12 KIND OF LOVE?

Romans 12 reveals a selfless, action-oriented, and sacrificial kind of love — the kind that mirrors Christ Himself. Paul isn’t describing sentimental affection, but a lifestyle of humility, mercy, and service that flows from a transformed heart. A love that is genuine, humble, serving, patient, forgiving, and peace-making.
A love that doesn’t just talk but acts, serves, and surrenders.

Here’s how that love is expressed through the chapter:

  • A Living Sacrifice (Romans 12:1-2)
Love that begins with surrender. Paul calls believers to “offer your bodies as a
living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God.” This means letting God shape our
attitudes and priorities, so that love comes from a renewed mind, not from selfish
    desire.
  • Love that is Humble, Serving (Romans 12:3-8)
God has given His children different gifts, they’re meant for serving others, not
elevating ourselves. Love here means cooperation, humility, and usefulness—doing
your part in the body of Christ faithfully and joyfully.
  • Love that is Sincere, Active Love (Romans 12:9-13)
This is radical love—the kind that mirrors God’s mercy toward us.
It’s love that does—not just feels.
  • Love that is Forgiving, Peaceful Love (Romans 12:14-21)
that blesses even enemies. It refuses revenge, overcomes evil with good, and seeks
    peace where possible.

Paul writes: “Let love be genuine. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good.”

This is the Romans 12 kind of love—sincere, discerning, compassionate, and practical:
• Devoted to one another in brotherly love
• Honoring others above yourself
• Sharing with those in need
• Practicing hospitality

This love doesn’t just bless the easy-to-love; it extends grace even to enemies, repaying evil with good. It is a love that chooses peace over pride, compassion over competition, and service over self.

When we live out this love, we reflect the heart of Jesus Himself—the One who loved without limits and gave without expecting anything in return.

Heart Check:
• Is my love genuine and free of pretense?
• Am I honoring others above myself?
• Do I respond to hurt with forgiveness and peace?
